its pointless.
when i checked on the fridge this morning, i was greeted with no such thing as a cold interior. the fridge was no longer running. in fact, the lights werent working anymore either.
with very little pause, i went outside and had my suspicions confirmed: the electrical box there was fully dead too. entona has been taken off the grid.
an hour of, ...essentially just staring into the void, later,
i returned home to eat soup, after which i am now writing this
and contemplating the next course of action. its back to the
solar panels i guess.
or i shouldve just used an extension cord.
or really anything that wasnt so risky.
but now its too late and i already lost the chance to get grid
power.
its such a ... bummer.
todays a getting wood day. last time i left some trees to dry
and it hasnt rained in a good while, so they should be fine now.
ill grab my axe and spend the rest of the day cutting stems
into smaller pieces and lugging them back in a wheelbarrow.
what a short diary entry this was.
* * *
and short it won't be after all. after a few wood deliveries
i noticed a car noise coming from outside and have decided to
stay indoors for the moment. there might be people in the city.
ill watch the streets from a window near the top of the block,
notably a closed window. that way it reflects the sky and they
cant see me looking.
* * *
a small truck pulled up next to the electrical box i broke open.
i have no idea why theyre actually coming to look and damn do i
hope they dont look too closely, but either way: two men have
left the truck and are standing next to the box, pointing at it
occasionally, one occasionally shouting at the other (i cant
make it out, but hes talking very loudly). i can hear a few
snippets though, like "BUT HOW", "SO WHAT", and "WHO CARES".
... now one has crouched down next to the box and is fiddling
with the inside. the other is looking around, especially at my
building.
oh shit, the fire! i didnt put the fire out. it may not be that smokey, but if he sees that i am fucked. they definitely wont let a fire happen here, somewhat close to a big forest, in early summer no less.
but they did go back into their truck, leaving the electrical box behind and seemingly not having noticed the fire. the man who looked at my block seems not to have noticed the thin smoke over the grey concrete, but i cant be too sure yet.
i need to move, probably.
