i have had a few very unremarkable days that i spent mostly relaxing, but today i needed to check on my seeds and young plants on the roof. when i arrived here, one of the first things i did was to take bucket after bucket after bucket of mud and dirt, and transport it to the roof of one of the buildings. its one of the few places where my only problem is birds, instead of all the ground animals too.

after looking around a bit on the roof and seeing everything was essentially growing as expected, i went through the field and removed unwanted plants from the ground that might have otherwise given me trouble later on. i do tend to leave a bit in because i think it might help keep the soil quality better, but im very unsure if it actually has any effect at all.

it has been a while since i had planted my potatoes, most of them have a pretty large amount of leaves now. once they have a flowered and a bunch of the flowers have died again, i can harvest them, but thatll be quite a while still. luckily that is no problem; i still have a lot of potatoes in the basement. carrots are running out slowly though, and they dont last all year so i will probably not be using the little rest i have. an electric freezer would prevent this, but i have yet to get elec- no wait, i DO have electricity. just not in the whole house. i suppose i could try using the outlet in the basement, but then how do i move a freezer there? and ideally it would be a chest freezer, of which i doubt there are a lot of here. most apartments just have a refridgerator with an integrated small freezer, but that will not do.

it is evening now. i have put a lot of my carrots into the soup, even though i dont love their taste.

i am still kind of thinking about the crows... it might be quite useful to befriend them. maybe they can find things or even bring items from gorna on occasion - assuming there is even anything useful to me there.
