im still feeling frustrated from the mediocre success in brining electricity here. its not like i need grid electricity, ive been surviving off of batteries for a very long time and had no problems with that approach... but i do find it annoying that i got so close.

in my frustration i let the fire go out. if that happens for too long i have to throw out the soup, which is extremely bad, but this time that was luckily not necessary. it was still quite close to boiling when i returned. the fire had of course burned out, meaning i had to make a new one, meaning i shoveled the ashes to the side and made a small bed of paper, followed by a few small sticks on top, and then several big pieces of wood stacked vertically into a pyramid shape. after lighting the paper, it didnt take very long for the main wood to ignite. i placed the pot next to it and begun adding some more wood shortly after, to restore the fire to a good size. once the soup was back to a simmer, all was well and i could go to sleep.

now i seem to have another relatively empty day on my hands. i will probably spend most of it reading, for which i have two novels already in mind. maybe ill write some thoughts i have about them down here.

well, first book was pretty meh, at least at first. towards the end it did seem to find a flow, but it was really not any interesting before the mid way point, in large part because it was written very unexcitingly. i dont usually care about the plot being exciting from the beginning if the writing itself is, but here it was neither. towards the end i did end up liking it though so im glad i stuck around.

the second book was quite funny and thus had no issues keeping me entertained throughout. the premise was essentially that the main character joe was trapped in someone else's body, but not in a body swap. the original owner of the body was still there and still in control, with the main character only manifesting as intrusive thoughts essentially. joe was however relatively content with this as his old life kinda sucked, and was in effect just trolling the original body owner (named dereck). towards the end they actually start to form a relatively friendly relationship. all-in-all quite a nice book, maybe i will re-read it one day.

maybe one day i will even write my own book. unfortunately i dont really think im a good enough writer to write anything meaningful. i suppose i am writing right now, but thats different. im not really writing, im just. logging. basically... theres no soul here or any sort of entertainment value. im just not a very creative person. if i write something it might as well have been written by a robot.

regardless: it is evening. i have little more to say about today, except actually one thing: i did see a crow land on the balcony. maybe i can befriend some of them, one of these days. and today i wont forget to feed the fire.
