it has been roughly a decade since i left general society to live in entona. i have decided this morning that i am going to begin writing some sort of diary, maybe itll come in handy or just function as a good waste of time.

this information is probably useless, but i will write it down anyway just in case someone else will read this one day. or i forget. entona is an abandoned city. it has been abandoned because there were no more jobs for people to do. most people moved to a city to the south-east - gorna. almost all of the city is made of nearly identical concrete slab buildings. cheap to build, at the time done with decent materials, lasts forever. theyre relatively tightly arranged and somewhere between 4 and 7 stories tall. most are still exactly how they were left, even furnished, which surprised me when i arrived here.

i am relatively adjusted to this perhaps unconventional environment. interestingly, society seems to be continuing as usual everywhere else, but this place is just too boring for anyone to bother even checking it out. the amount of times people have come here after the abandonment can probably be counted on my hands alone.

so much for the past. it is now time for the present, because i am hungry and will get up to eat now. i have a potato stew cooking on the balcony. luckily theyre quite spacious compared to the rest, so i can safely make a fire there.

* * *

it is evening by the way. i tend to eat warm for most of my meals though as i rarely bother with bread and such and most other things you can eat raw are just not really my taste. stew and soup are easy and nutritious, and i have about as much space to grow my plants as i could want. technically, the whole city even, though i could never even remotely use all of that space, especially if we count vertical space too.

oh right, the season: it is currently nearing summer, but none of the seasons are really ever an issue either since, well, there are buildings everywhere, and i know how to make fire. in fact i am still using old lighters i find around. a whole city of abandoned matches and lighters lasts surprisingly long if you know how to find them all and use them even remotely well. of course, my fire also doesnt go out too often so i dont even need to use the lighters often. the wood i mostly get from the nearby woods. wet wood burns fine too if youve got something to start it, and i happen to have a whole city of buildings to stash some of the dry stuff in.

even now, so many years in, i am still surprised by how many people just left all this, and did not even consider doing something akin to what i am now. i suppose it benefits me tho, i wont complain! and even i did leave for a while. only i came back, unlike most.
