back to main page
good evening.
i will never write a scientific paper. this is not
because i will never write something scientific,
or because i will never write something that looks
like a paper. this is instead because i refuse to
perform the particular dumbass dance that is how
these things are written.
- i write personally: unless there is a really
damn good reason not to, i will use "i" and "you"
and i will use colloquial language. this is because
there is no point in doing anything else besides
arbitrary bullshit.
- i write in the way that works best, not the way
that someone dictates: if it can be done much
better as a socratic dialogue, i will write a
socratic dialogue.
- i do not try to be neutral, because fully neutral
is something i (and everyone) cannot be anyway.
- i will cite sources how i want to cite them.
that is going to be as hyperlinks or unambiguous
references, but they won't necessarily follow
some special-ass format.
- i will not waste time, i would rather write
something short than spend years explaining what
is obvious to most.
basically, i will get my point across by any means
necessary, and i will not write any more than
i consider necessary. if i didn't write enough, i
can just write another thing, and this shows in
what i write, because i don't even try to make it
fully bulletproof. i try to address what i suspect
people will say, but i see no point pretending i
need to go any further than that.
fundamentally, this boils down to a lack of
giving a fuck about norms, which is fundamentally
incompatible with the way "the scientific community"
likes their documents. i am obviously going to
appear a bit more serious in things i actually
give a fuck about than this blog, but that
will mostly be in terms of formatting and the
existence of any sources at all. but my texts,
"formal" and informal, will always, unless forced
by some dumb system like having to get a job,
be my texts, and this means their tone
will be at least slightly similar to this blog.
