good evening.

i can choose

what i want to believe.

im sure others can do the same, but i make especially explicit use of it. if believing something annoys me for no benefit, i will stop believing it, because i can choose what i want to believe.

i have hinted to this in the past but i have enough thoughts on the topic that i want to actually make this explicit. reality is whatever i want i to be; i can put anything into my mind and believe it. there is an apple (the fruit) on the desk with me. it is red and yellow but mostly red and the tip is a bit dirty. i can eat it but it has a spot that doesnt look very appetizing and im not very hungry and i also have an apple allergy and the apple doesnt actually exist. for the time of writing the sentences i just wrote, the apple existed, and i decided that i could see it and so i could. but in reality i couldnt see it and it wasnt there but reality doesnt exist because its all just atoms and fields with the emptiness in between. but who knows if atoms actually exist and who kn-

i could continue this for a few more minutes but i think you get the point, i can decide that something is some way and update my assumptions based on that and randomly generate the rest. this makes it very easy for me to say false things convincingly because ill believe them too and just randomly generate the rest. to me, those things wont be false, though ill usually have a mental note to check back with in a way kind of like "wait was this something i ever changed and why?" so i dont drift off into a complete dream world.

and because if i decide something is true and dont have further info i can just generate sensible "fake data", it means i can back up the falsehood excellently, which means i am very good at lying and trolling and so on, but it also makes me pretty good at school and it means i can live in a world less affected by the whole everybullshit.

funnily enough, i can also believe two contradictory things. for example, "climate change will kill most people and end civilization and so i should prepare for the apocalypse" and "i dont need to worry myself about the future" and "i will be fine even with the worst case climate catastrophy and war" and "it is worth it to get a job in current society because surely it wont collapse" and so on. these all serve some purpose and i believe them in different contexts, but treat them all as completely true most of the time, except when i decide i want to believe something different right now for some reason.
